The biggest Mexican influence to appear widespread in the United States was Taco Bell, which first appeared in 1962. Taco Bell offered tacos which were fried tortillas, bent into a rigid and uniform shape, stuffed carelessly with crumbled beef, grated cheese, a mild or hot red sauce and shredded lettuce.
